Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)
What is it?

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a healing modality that has its origins in Osteopathic medicine, particularly in the vein of cranial osteopathy. It is a gentle, light touch form of energy work and bodywork that deeply calms the nervous system, allowing it to become resourced enough to release tension and pain; thereby, returning the system to a greater experience of health and vitality.
BCST is ultimately the business of stillness and slowness. One’s whole being is moving from doing to being. When things slow down, possibilities open up. You start to move closer to the super conscious realm, which is an experience of emptiness, clarity, openness, and flow. By calming the nervous system at a deep level, peace is cultivated in one’s system instead of disturbance. Deep relaxation gives the nervous system a chance to rest and reset, so that it can face the world in a more resourced way.
BCST operates in relationship to inherent health, which is always present and within us. One’s health might seem buried under layers of disease, pain, or trauma, but it is still there to be engaged and brought to the foreground, allowing the body to come into alignment with the expression of full potential. BCST helps nudge the body towards health, which is the direction it already wants to go.
BCST is inherently spiritual. At our core, there is a state of pure, true being and stillness. This dynamic stillness is alive and contains all of life’s potential; it holds the qualities of emptiness and luminosity. The subtle energy that keeps us alive is the Life Force or the potency of the Breath of Life. This life force can be felt and sensed as a long, slow, outward and inward flow of subtle energy or Primary Respiration of the system, that is free to act within the body’s fluids.
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is the juice that bathes and nourishes the brain and central nervous system. It is also the informational link between spirit and matter, conveying the ordering principle of Higher Intelligence into the cells of the body. If the CSF is disturbed, the nervous system can be affected with vast ramifications for the health of the whole body. If the expression of this vital force is facilitated, then health can be restored.

How does it work?

Sessions take place in person but are also effective distantly, via phone or Zoom. The client is fully clothed, usually lying face-up on a massage table, and covered with a sheet or blanket. Pillows are made available for comfort and support.
With the client’s permission, hands-on touch begins at the feet or sacrum. It is gentle, light, non-manipulative, and non-invasive. The quality of touch is adjusted, depending on what the client’s body and system need.
Session Components:
1. Presentation: Client presents with an energetic composite of their blueprint reflection of Source and their history of imprints and individual life experience.
2. Relationship: Client comes into relationship with the practitioner, who holds and mirrors two sets of attributes:
- A neutral, non-judgmental space, centered, and grounded in Stillness, with their presence being not too close or far away.
- An informed ability to reflect Anatomy and Energy Anatomy.
3. Energy Movement: Client’s system’s intelligence sees itself reflected and gains self-awareness. Client’s system tells its story via pulsation and shaping, and energy patterns of craniosacral phenomena. Practitioner is listening to the energetic story of the bones, tissues, and fluids of the body.
4. Stillness: Practitioner facilitates a silent dialogue with the client’s system. In the fullness of the system’s story and energy patterns, the system comes to rest and finds stillness. In the stillness, the system re-orients to its Source blueprint and restores energetic potency.
5. Energy Movement: Something New Can Happen! The system gently expands with new shaping and pulsation on many levels. Imprints of history can be resolved, and the original matrix is reasserted, promoting restoration and revitalization.
